Naast 'Aan het water' van Bernard Dewulf, ga ik nog een videogedicht maken voor het Felix Poetry Festival.
Op Facebook liep er de afgelopen weken een wedstrijd. Voor het winnende gedicht maak ik een filmpje...
Spannend...
Nog een verrassende vraag:
"We have a commission for you. A one minute video for the exhibition OOOOOh video. A one minute about sport seen through the eyes of you, the artist.
The videos will be used for an exhibition and screenings during and after the Olympic games in various cities around the world. The first exhibition opens on 23 July in London in the Slade Research Centre in Bloomsbury. Are you interested?"
Zeker wel. Fijn. Niet alleen werd een 'oudje' (in minuut-versie) geselecteerd voor hun 'black/white one minutes' series, the 16th edition van hun 'one minutes series', nu mag ik ook nog een nagelnieuwe minuut in elkaar flansen.
Toch nog tijd voor eigen werk, een nachtmerrie en een experiment...
The rooster with the golden voice cried out:

He wore black shiny boots and used a typewriter to multiply his commands.
His silver jacket hung on a nail through the wall.
On the other side I could hear the children cheer.

A new voice. One I hadn't heard before.
This one soothed me, made me happy.
Like a long lost friend or a recently found father.
I turned around again.
On the other side all went quiet, everything else remained the same.
Op de track 'Projection' (een eerbetoon aan de soundtracks van Bernard Herrmann)
maakte ik met een minimum aan footage een repetitieve video. Een loop waarin het hoofdpersonage van de nachtmerrie letterlijk zit opgesloten. Een wereldje waarin (bijna) niks gebeurd. Botsen op de muren van de herhaling...
Als experiment en beweging en kleur wilde ik de loops ook nog eens ontdubbelen en in telkens een andere kleur over elkaar laten schuiven om zo het claustrofobische en het eindeloze te benadrukken.
